Bristol City 2-1 Reading (friendly)
Ffion Morgan was a constant threat for Bristol City, with her first attempt on goal
coming after less than a minute. She continued to trouble the opposition with
counter attacks, free kicks and other chances before setting up Bristol City’s equaliser.
Ffion was eventually substituted on 75 minutes, by which point she was probably
exhausted.
Reading’s Rachel Rowe and Lily Woodham were active at both ends of the pitch and were called into action more than once to deal with the threat of Ffion. Lily sent one of Ffion’s efforts out for a corner, while Rachel got in a crucial block to stop her Wales team-mate from scoring. Both Rachel and Lily were dangerous from free kicks, and when one attack involving Rachel was finally put out for a corner, Lily put Bristol City right back under pressure when she took the corner. Lily and Rachel played 67 and 80 minutes respectively.
Gemma Evans also started for Reading and played the
full 90 minutes. Ella Powell was a half-time substitute for Bristol
City, while team-mate Olivia Clark was an unused substitute.
Liverpool 3-1 Blackburn Rovers (friendly)
Blackburn Rovers’ Lauren Thomas was the only Welsh player
to be named in either starting line-up and became one of seven
players to be substituted at half-time when she was replaced by a trialist. Ellie
Leek was one of the half-time substitutes, replacing a different trialist.
Liverpool also made half-time substitutions, with Rhiannon
Roberts and Ceri Holland amongst those coming off for bench for
Liverpool in the second half. Ceri had a good chance to increase what was then
a 2-1 lead, but her shot lacked power and was easily saved.
