Leicester City 1-0 Southampton (friendly)
Josie Green was part of Leicester's team, but I haven't found details about the line-up so it’s impossible to
say whether new loan signing Carrie Jones was involved. Hannah Cain
is on her way back from injury so it's highly unlikely that she was part
of the squad. Megan Wynne, who started for Southampton, was involved in
some promising attacks and came close to getting on the scoresheet. Alice Griffiths
came off the bench ten minutes into the second half.
Portsmouth 1-0 Cardiff (friendly)
Phoebie Poole came very close to an equaliser for
Cardiff in the closing minutes of this friendly, but her attempt crept just
past the post. Goalkeeper Ceryn Chamberlain played a big role in keeping
the score down. No other Cardiff players are mentioned in the match report (not
even the player who scored the own goal was named, but she might not mind too much) and none of Portsmouth’s Welsh stars were in action. There is as yet
no report on Cardiff City’s website.
Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Club America (Women’s Cup, friendly)
Angharad James came off the bench after half-time,
playing her first ever match for Tottenham. Club America were already leading
2-0, but the introduction of Angharad and others helped Tottenham to find their
rhythm – and their goal. It’s not the result they would have hoped for, but
there are promising signs.
