Cardiff City Women 2-0 Pontypridd United
Danielle Broadhurst and substitute Phoebie Poole were both on the scoresheet as Cardiff City Women (not to be confused with Cardiff City Ladies) won the opening game of their Adran Premier League season.
Zoe Atkins and Ffion Price gave Pontypridd early warning of Cardiff's attacking intent, with debutante - and Player of the Match - Rhianne Oakley also looking very dangerous. Danielle Broadhurst broke the deadline from close range from a move involving Zoe and Rhianne.
Pontypridd came very close to an equaliser from Jasmine Turner. and were perhaps unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when a shot came off Siobhan Walsh's arm.
Phoebie came onto the pitch in the 63rd minute and finished coolly just seven minutes later. Pontypridd weren't giving up, however, and Cardiff needed a series of very good saves from Ceryn Chamberlain to retain their two-goal cushion.
Swansea City 2-0 Cardiff Met
Swansea got off to a winning start at the Swansea.com Stadium in front of the biggest crowd ever to watch a women's domestic game.
After Cardiff Met had a goal from Steph Turner ruled out, Katy Hosford opened the scoring for Swansea just before half-time. Player of the Match Stacey John-Davis then dramatically chipped the keeper in the second half to double Swansea's lead.
Scoring at the Swansea.com Stadium was a dream come true for Stacey, but she was quick to say after the match that brilliant as it was to score, it was a team performance.
