Coventry United have signed two new players on season-long loans, including Wales forward Esther Morgan from Tottenham Hotspur.
Although Esther's last couple of seasons at Tottenham and subsequent loan to Leicester City were restricted by competition for places and then a long-term injury, she did prove she could play at the highest level when she was given chances. Esther only celebrated her twentieth birthday a couple of weeks ago so there is a lot of potential there and I can only agree that Coventry have done well.
Portsmouth 2-0 Watford
Emma Jones kept her place in the starting line-up for Portsmouth as they raced into a 2-0 lead after just twenty minutes and preserved their unbeaten start to the season. Watford were unbeaten themselves prior to this fixture, with two wins for their opening two games, and they didn't make it easy for Portsmouth.
Annie Rossiter the first to test Portsmouth's defence, but her shot went over the bar. Helen Ward, who scored both Watford's goals in the previous meeting between these two teams, came very close to getting a goal back for Watford when one-on-one with the goalkeeper. She would almost certainly have done it were it not for an excellent stop, but Portsmouth made their home advantage count and deservedly took the points.
